ESSER Information
In response to COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. Congress passed the American Rescue Plan (ARP) to help states with the ongoing effects of the pandemic. As part of the ARP, Bartlett City Schools will receive Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds to be used within our school district. The information below provides an overview of our approved plan for the use of our allocated funds. ESSER I (CARES Act), ESSER II (CRRSA Act), and ARP ESSER III (ARP Act)
Under the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Fund, established as part of the Education Stabilization Fund in the CARES Act, billions of dollars have been allocated to state educational agencies (SEAs) to award sub-grants to local educational agencies (LEAs). These funds have been made available to address the impact that the Novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has had, and continues to have, on elementary and secondary schools across the Nation. The State of Tennessee will receive over $4.5 billion for K-12 education and, of that, Bartlett City Schools will receive a total amount $27,647,680.93. ESSER I
Funds were spent on purchasing iPads for student home use, mobile device management software, additional personnel to serve meals and clean and sanitize buildings. Click here to see a breakdown of ESSER I expenditures.
ESSER II
Funds have been allocated to be spent on the following items: on-line curriculum and resources, additional personnel to allow for social distancing, additional iPads for personnel, meals for remote students, indoor air quality improvements, building improvements to the Bartlett Ninth Grade Academy and on-line learning infrastructure improvements. ESSER III
Bartlett City School will receive $17,630,335.11 with this third allocation of funding through the American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ARP ESSER) Fund under the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act of 2021. These funds are designated for one-time or short-term expenditures to help safely reopen and sustain the safe operation of schools to address the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on students. Bartlett City School’s priority is to maintain a safe learning environment for all students, teachers and staff.
- Addressing Learning Loss (programs, staff, intervention, tutoring, etc.)
- Educational Technology (hardware, software, infrastructure, etc.)
- Addressing Facility Needs (air quality; maintenance; heating, ventilation, air conditioning; etc.)
- Addressing Needs of Special Populations (homeless, students with disabilities, foster care, etc.)
- High Quality Instructional Materials (curriculum, textbooks, manipulatives, etc.)
- Providing Mental Health Supports (programs and staff)
- Educator Support (recruitment, retention, etc.)
- Public Health (following CDC guidelines for safe and healthy spaces)
